Our Children’s dental health comes first!

The Child Dental Benefit Scheme (CDBS) has been greatly beneficial for many Australian families. The CDBS commenced back in 2014 and provides access to basic dental needs to around 3 million children between the ages of 2-17 years old.

Throughout the year of 2016, the government was contemplating decisions to terminate the CDBS.  By December the government agreed to maintain the scheme with the argumentative efforts of the Australian Dental Association (ADA), on the condition that it would be reduced from $1000 to $700.

Statistics demonstrated that the reduction in the cap would have affected a vast number of families and children when it comes to dental health, with 1 in 4 children facing the possibility of not having all their treatments met. On February the 7th, 2017 the great efforts of the ADA were paid off and the cap was restored back to $1000.  The decision to retain the original cap amount has been warmly welcomed by the ADA and many members of the Australian community.  All eligible children will still have access to the benefit over a two calendar year period.
