Teeth Whitening Miranda

There are several teeth whitening methods and products, including whitening toothpaste, over-the-counter whitening gels, rinses, strips, trays, and whitening products from a dentist.

Teeth whitening is good for people who have healthy, unrestored teeth and gums.

Individuals with yellow tones to their teeth respond best. But this cosmetic procedure is not for everyone. For teeth whitening in Miranda we offer take-home kits and in-chair whitening.

Causes of Teeth Discolouration

Extrinsic discolouration

Extrinsic discolouration is when foods, beverages, or smoking habits stain your teeth. Coffee, tea, red wine, foods with dyes, and tobacco products can contribute to this type of discolouration. These stains affect the outer surfaces of your teeth.

Extrinsic discolouration may be treated with whitening toothpaste that targets the teeth’s outside stains.

Intrinsic discolouration

Intrinsic discolouration is from within the tooth. You may have intrinsic discolouration because of medication use, childhood illness, infection, tooth trauma, or aging.

Intrinsic discolouration may need to be professionally bleached to get the same level, or better, of teeth whiteness.

Teeth Whitening Procedures

If you want to have your teeth whitened, you may need to make a couple of visits over a couple of months.

In-Chair Whitening

During an in-chair whitening procedure, a bleaching product is painted to your teeth, and then a light or laser is shone on them to activate the whitening. In-chair whitening takes about an hour.

At-Home Whitening

Your Miranda dentist will take impressions of your teeth to make a mould and tell you how to use it with the bleaching gel.

Then, using your mouthguard at home, regularly apply the gel for a specific period of time for over 2 to 4 weeks.

Some whitening gels can be left on the teeth for up to 8 hours each time, which shortens the treatment period to 1 week.

Benefits of Teeth Whitening

Boosts your self-confidence

A smile with bright, sparkly teeth is hard to miss! Whiter teeth are an indication that you take care of yourself and care about your appearance.

Enhances your appearance

After the proper whitening procedure, you’ll instantly notice the difference without having to ‘filter’ and/or edit your photos. Teeth whitening will help combat stains from your everyday food and drink.

Minimises the look of wrinkles

If you’re self-conscious about wrinkles, teeth whitening may be a great option for you! Instead of focusing on wrinkles, people are more likely to focus on your bright white smile. This will draw attention away from the appearance of surrounding wrinkles, acne scars, and frown lines.

Doesn’t break the bank

Teeth whitening doesn’t cost as much as plastic surgery! A touch-up kit after an in-office treatment will be enough to prolong the effect of your teeth whitening. The combination of teeth whitening plus an at-home enhancer is a small price tag that produces big results.

Frequently Asked Questions

Listed below are the most commonly asked questions we receive from our patients.

Yes. Clinical studies have shown that whitening your teeth with carbamide or hydrogen peroxide under the supervision of a dental professional is safe for teeth and gums.

There are several reasons you might get your teeth whitened. Everyone is different; and just as our hair and skin colour differ, so do our teeth. Very few people are born with brilliant-white teeth, and our teeth can also become more discoloured as we age.

The effects of whitening will vary from person to person. The effect is less likely to last if you smoke or eat or drink products that can cause discolourations to your teeth.
